A recent study explores the therapeutic efficacy of a polytherapy approach for treating amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) associated with SOD1 mutations. These mutations are significant contributors to familial ALS cases and increase the propensity for protein misfolding.

The study suggests that using multiple treatments together might be effective in managing ALS symptoms related to SOD1 mutations. This approach could potentially slow down the progression of the disease by addressing the underlying causes linked to these mutations, indicating a promising direction for future research into ALS treatments, particularly for those with familial forms of the disease (Lum, 2025).
